The Fraser Ramblers will face off against the Athens Red Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fraser has six straight victories, Athens has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Fraser had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Lakeview on Tuesday. The Ramblers were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Huskies. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Ramblers this season.
Camilla Dawood made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Irelyn Bednarchik, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Gajewski, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Fraser kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Athens lost 14-2 to Warren Woods-Tower on Wednesday.
Ella Odgers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Fraser's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Athens, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Everything went Fraser's way against Athens when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Fraser made off with an 18-8 win. Will the Ramblers repeat their success, or do the Red Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
