Basketball Recap: Kunta Jenkins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ola over Eagle's Landing

Ola fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Eagle's Landing on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagle's Landing Eagles by a score of 78-76. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (68), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

Ola's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kunta Jenkins, who went 11 for 20 en route to 30 points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds. Those seven assists gave Jenkins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nigel Thomas, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine assists.

Jenkins wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Ola was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Ola's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Eagle's Landing, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.

Ola will venture away from home to face off against Locust Grove at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Eagle's Landing has already played their next contest, a 69-46 win against Luella on the 20th.
