Baseball Recap: Wagner Takes a Loss

The Wagner Thunderbirds came up short against the Alamo Heights Mules on Tuesday, falling 21-8.

Erick Martinez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Mark Riojas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI.

Wagner has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. As for Alamo Heights, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-17-1.

While Wagner had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
