Basketball Recap: Fort Collins Lambkins vs. Loveland Red Wolves

The Fort Collins Lambkins entered their tilt with the Loveland Red Wolves with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Fort Collins strolled past the Red Wolves with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 71-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Jayce King was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with five steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Fort Collins' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcel Herrera, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Loveland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Braden Pryor. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pryor has scored all season. Trey Olsen was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 14 rebounds and two steals.

Fort Collins is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Loveland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Collins won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Norsemen at 12:00 p.m. on January 27th. Northglenn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Lambkins are ranked 68th). As for Loveland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Erie is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.
