Softball Recap: Flinthills Starts Season with Win Against Sedan

Flinthills took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Sedan Devils as Flinthills made off with a 17-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Devils: they've now won five in a row.

Joliene Dragoo made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Flinthills got a massive performance out of Paige Corter, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Katelyn Corter was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Flinthills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sedan only posted an OBP of .136.

Sedan is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Flinthills will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sedan: the pair will be back at it again later today.
