Baseball Game Preview: Wayne Christian Eagles vs. John Paul II Catholic Saints

Wayne Christian is 2-8 against John Paul II Catholic since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wayne Christian Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the John Paul II Catholic Saints at 6:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Last Thursday, Wayne Christian came up short against Arendell Parrott Academy and fell 6-1. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jake Anderson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs but no hits. Anderson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Miles Hamm made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, John Paul II Catholic fell victim to Faith Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 10-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Saints were not able to get on the board.

Wayne Christian now has a losing record of 2-3. As for John Paul II Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Wayne Christian might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from John Paul II Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Wayne Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
