Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Loss Ends Okaw Valley's Winning Streak

Okaw Valley dropped their record down to 7-14-1 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the LeRoy Panthers. The Timberwolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for LeRoy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For LeRoy's part, Kobe Brent was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Brent a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for LeRoy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Okaw Valley will square off against Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Timberwolves are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for LeRoy, they will face off against Maroa-Forsyth at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
