Softball Recap: Seaside Seagulls vs. Astoria Fishermen

Seaside had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-16 to make it four. They lost 11-0 to the Astoria Fishermen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fishermen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-1 back in April.

As for Astoria, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.

For Astoria's part, Nayomi Holmstedt was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Holmstedt continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kya Lindell, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

While Seaside had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
