Basketball Game Preview: Katz Yeshiva Storm vs. Scheck Hillel Community School Lions + How To Watch

The Katz Yeshiva Storm will take on the Scheck Hillel Community School Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Katz Yeshiva knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Scheck Hillel Community School likes a good challenge.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Katz Yeshiva and Donna Klein Jewish Academy meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Storm enjoyed a cozy 77-62 win over the Eagles. The Storm pushed the score to 58-36 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Katz Yeshiva got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nir Ovaknin out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. The game was Ovaknin's third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ilan Attias, who went 7-for-11 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Scheck Hillel Community School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Avant Garde Academy, falling 66-46.

Scheck Hillel Community School's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Katz Yeshiva, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Katz Yeshiva strolled past Scheck Hillel Community School in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 60-45. Will the Storm repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
