Baseball Recap: Lawrence County's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Lawrence County barely beat Bogue Chitto the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lawrence County Cougars beat the Bogue Chitto Bobcats on Saturday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Weston Dunaway made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Lawrence County got a massive performance out of Caden Case, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. What's more, Case posted three hits, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was LaFreddrick Harris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Lawrence County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Lawrence County and bumps their season record up to 3-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Bogue Chitto, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Lawrence County will head out to face off against West Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
