Softball Game Preview: Sandpoint Bulldogs vs. Lakeland Hawks

Sandpoint hasn't had much luck against Lakeland recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Sandpoint will host Lakeland at 3:00 p.m. Sandpoint has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sandpoint is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 25th straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They lost 19-5 to Boise.

Sandpoint saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arah Stevens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Cadence Skibitsky was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Lakeland suffered their closest defeat since April 23, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Centennial by a score of 13-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (ten), the Hawks still had to take the loss.

Raygen Dutton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keirsten Drake, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Lakeland dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Sandpoint, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
