Basketball Game Preview: Sabine Pass Sharks vs. Bob Hope Eagles

The Sabine Pass Sharks and the Bob Hope Eagles will round out the year against one another at at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Sabine Pass is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Johnson Bayou to the tune of 88-39 last Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Sharks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 997th in Texas, while the Rebels are ranked 343rd in Louisiana).

Meanwhile, Bob Hope hadn't done well against Kirbyville recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 80-24 stomp they got against Kirbyville. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

The win (which was Bob Hope's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.2 points. As for Sabine Pass, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-9.

Sabine Pass and Bob Hope were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but Sabine Pass came up empty-handed after a 55-54 loss. Can Sabine Pass avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
