Baseball Game Preview: Morgantown Mohigans vs. The Linsly School Cadets

Morgantown has won three straight games at home, while The Linsly School has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Mohigans will welcome the Cadets at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Morgantown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Buckhannon-Upshur, who was ranked 25th at the time (Morgantown was ranked ninth). The Mohigans blew past the Buccaneers 12-2 on Tuesday. The Mohigans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 19-4).

Maddox Boggs tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eli Boggs, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Ryan Nipper was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

Morgantown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buckhannon-Upshur only posted an OBP of .250.

Meanwhile, The Linsly School got the win against Summers County on Saturday by a conclusive 13-3.

Morgantown is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for The Linsly School, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
