Baseball Recap: Tre Turner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Meadowbrook over Hermitage

Meadowbrook had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-7 to make it four. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-0 to the Hermitage Panthers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Monarchs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in May of 2022.

Meadowbrook saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tre Turner, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Hermitage, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season.

On Hermitage's side, Hayden Harris made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over six innings pitched. Harris has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Adrian Hernandez was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Davis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meadowbrook will welcome Colonial Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colonials' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Monarchs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hermitage, they will host Thomas Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
