Softball Recap: Brookfield Academy Triumphs

Brookfield Academy's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the St. Francis Mariners 11-1. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Knights in their matchups with the Mariners: they've now won five in a row.

Makenna Best made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Best was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Riley Bodor and Lila Mason did most of the damage at the plate: Bodor scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Mason scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Bodor a new career-high. Olivia Schmidt was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Brookfield Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for St. Francis, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookfield Academy will welcome Lake Country Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Francis, they will square off against Catholic Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
