Football Game Preview: East Rockingham Eagles vs. Rocktown Raptors

The East Rockingham Eagles will square off against the Rocktown Raptors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Rockingham will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

East Rockingham is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Harrisonburg to the tune of 52-7 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Demetrius Arrington had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 137 yards and four TDs. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Aiden Raines was another key player, rushing for 86 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: East Rockingham was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 323 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 283 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 42 points the game before, Rocktown was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. The matchup between the Raptors and Broadway didn't end well, with the Raptors falling 29-12. While losing is never fun, the Raptors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Gobblers are ranked 115th).

Rocktown now has a losing record of 2-3. As for East Rockingham, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
