Recap: Southwest Roughriders vs. Bertrand Vikings

The Southwest Roughriders waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They blew past Bertrand 51-21 at home. Southwest has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 22 points or more this season.

Southwest can attribute much of their success to Allison Vanpelt, who scored 13 points along with five assists and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vanpelt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kyra Nelms, who scored 13 points.

Southwest pushed their record up to 8-5 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Bertrand, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwest will take on Cheylin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cheylin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 233rd in Kansas, while Southwest is ranked 103rd in Nebraska). Bertrand won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Overton at 2:00 p.m. on January 13th. Overton will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
