Football Recap: Murrieta Valley Falls Short Against Ranked Centennial + How To Watch

Murrieta Valley faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Nighthawks had to suffer through a 48-20 loss at the hands of the Huskies. That makes it the first time this season the Nighthawks have let down their home crowd.

When it comes to explaining why Murrieta Valley lost, don't look at Ryder Lopez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 59 yards and one touchdown. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jacob Taddi, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Centennial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dominick Catalano out in front who rushed for 36 yards and one TD, and also threw for 135 yards while completing 78.6% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Zander Lewis, who rushed for 74 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Murrieta Valley's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Centennial, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Jeremiah Watson and Damarii Booth. Meanwhile, Centennial will square off against rival Norco at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
