Softball Recap: Springs Valley Takes a Loss

Springs Valley lost against Eastern back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Blackhawks fell 7-3 to the Musketeers.

Lily Hickman was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double.

Hickman wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lola Kovas, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Mikaela Cavazos also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Springs Valley's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Eastern, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Springs Valley has already played their next matchup (against Mitchell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Eastern, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-0 victory against Clarksville on the 30th.
