The Hunt Warriors will square off against the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hunt is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Hunt barely beat Southern Wayne the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors blew past the Saints 10-2 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
The team relied heavily on Will Doll, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Barnes Willoughby, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Hunt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, C.B. Aycock won against East Wake on Monday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Golden Falcons beat Fike by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Falcons in their matchups with the Demons: they've now won nine in a row.
Ashton Fricks tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Janeson Steele was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
Hunt's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for C.B. Aycock, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hunt has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like C.B. Aycock struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Hunt's way against C.B. Aycock when the teams last played back in March, as Hunt made off with a 13-1 win. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Golden Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
