Football Game Preview: Cohasset Skippers vs. Carver Crusaders

Cohasset is 6-1 against Carver since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Skippers will head out on the road to take on the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Cohasset is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Randolph just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They and the Blue Devils were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 28-27 defeat. While the Skippers had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Blue Devils 13-7.

Despite the loss, Cohasset got top-tier performance from Gus Greene, who rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns. Greene's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 123 rushing yards. Nolan Flaherty was in the mix as well, providing Cohasset with two scores.

Cohasset didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Greene and Jake Dolan.

Meanwhile, Carver came up short against Mashpee on Thursday and fell 36-26.

Cohasset suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 4-2. As for Carver, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Cohasset skirted past Carver 22-19 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Crusaders' Jack Balzarini, who rushed for 53 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 155 yards and one touchdown.
