Ryan took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Grapevine, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Ryan Raiders had just enough and edged out the Grapevine Mustangs 5-4 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since February 17th.

Olivia Buettner made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Buettner was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Buettner wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kayla Martin, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Kyndal Beamon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Ryan's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 11-3. As for Grapevine, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-8 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ryan will challenge Argyle at 7:00 p.m. on March 21st. As for Grapevine, they will face off against Birdville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
