Basketball Recap: Shadow Mountain's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Shadow Mountain had to endure a 15-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They escaped with a win on Wednesday against the Goldwater Bulldogs by the margin of a single free throw, 21-20. That's more bragging rights for the Matadors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Shadow Mountain found their leader in sophomore Tess Newport, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Shadow Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Shadow Mountain's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Goldwater, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
