Basketball Recap: Lakeland Christian Academy Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Lakeland Christian Academy came up into this matchup off a tough 26-point defeat last Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Argos Dragons by a score of 47-44 on Saturday. The Cougars lost against the Dragons in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 70-36 score last time.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Olivia Hawks, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayton Sibert, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points.

Argos had a senior duo take command as Morgyn Barcus went 7 for 13 on her way to 23 points and Alydiah Leed posted 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barcus has scored all season.

Lakeland Christian Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8. As for Argos, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeland Christian Academy will take on South Adams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakeland Christian Academy is facing South Adams at the right time seeing as South Adams is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Argos, they will face off against Oregon-Davis at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
