5A Region I District 6 recap November 5, 2013
Trinity added to the longest winning streak in 5A Region I District 6 this week by beating Irving, 42-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Trojans.
MacArthur made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,981 from 5,284. The improvement was the result of a 31-29 victory over Grapevine last week.
Griffin Pickler threw for 267 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Michael Coley was the best wideout in the league this week as the Tigers fell to Trinity. Coley racked up 7 receptions for 97 yards. Chase Goodall helped Irving's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 38 yards.
Bell's Colson Romano and Jonathan Arosemena have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Romano has thrown for 1,922 yards this season, while Arosemena has 50 catches for 607 yards. Antonio Franklin from Irving leads the league in rushing with 974 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against Heritage, Romano is short just 78 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
The Panthers' offense has scored 347 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Bell has allowed only 147 on the year.
Franklin of the Aaron Delatorre's team is just 26 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Franklin has rushed for 974 yards on 161 carries so far this year.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Mark Smith's team's Arosemena goes up against Heritage's Ryan Phillippe.
Next week's game between the Raiders and Mike Fuller's team will feature a good passing match up as Romano will test his arm against Phillippe's defensive ability.
The Panthers are in second place, while Bell is in third place.
