Basketball Recap: Ellie Crain's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Travelers Rest over Seneca

Travelers Rest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Seneca Bobcats. The Devildogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 54-49.

Several Devildogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ellie Crain, who posted nine points in addition to five boards and three blocks. That's the most blocks Crain has posted since back in December of 2024. Mabry Mullis was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Seneca got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ja'Nyce Floyd out in front who went 7 for 11 on her way to 20 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Weston, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Travelers Rest's loss dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Seneca, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-12.

Coming up, Travelers Rest will square off against Berea at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Seneca, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Bobcats challenge the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Daniel will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Seneca surely won't give up without a fight.
