The Highland Scots will face off against the Taft Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland will be strutting in after a victory while Taft will be coming in after a defeat.
Highland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Edison on Tuesday as Highland made off with a 12-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Scots considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Jacob Berumen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Berumen wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Santiago Blanco, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Another was Diego Hernandez, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Taft fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Independence on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-4. The loss leaves the Wildcats still looking for their first win of the season.
Like Highland, Taft also got a great game from a two-way player: Cash Clark. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. Clark was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Highland's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Taft's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Highland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for Taft, though, as they've only averaged .136. Will they be able to contain Highland's hitters?
Highland couldn't quite get it done against Taft when the teams last played back in February of 2016 as they fell 6-2. Can Highland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
