Soccer Recap: Weld Central Wins Going Away Against Sterling

Weld Central lost to Sterling back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Rebels blew past the Tigers 7-2. The result was nothing new for Weld Central, who have now won four matchups by four goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Sterling from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Govanni Barajas-Mares led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

The victory made it two in a row for Weld Central and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those two matches. As for Sterling, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, Weld Central and Sterling will both be playing Fort Morgan the next time they take the pitch. The Tigers will host the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rebels will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
