Basketball Recap: Mt. Rainier Comes Up Short

Mt. Rainier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Kennedy Catholic Lancers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-47 back in January.

Despite the loss, Mt. Rainier saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mason Emil went 8 for 13 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for Emil. Another player making a difference was Jayden Dolce, who went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points.

Mt. Rainier's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Kennedy Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Mt. Rainier nor Kennedy Catholic have any future games scheduled.
