Baseball Recap: Coffee County Central Red Raiders vs. Tullahoma Wildcats
Coffee County Central had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 15-13 to make it six. They came up short against the Tullahoma Wildcats, falling 8-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 on April 4th.
Coffee County Central got a good showing from Leiton Yancer, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Yancer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
As for Tullahoma, their record is now 20-8. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
On Tullahoma's side, Lukas Taylor-Rodriguez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Taylor-Rodriguez a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Tullahoma let Baylan Tuten and Hunter Hogan run wild. Tuten went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Hogan got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Coffee County Central will head out on the road to take on Columbia Central at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Tullahoma, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Marshall County at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
