Basketball Recap: Wray Comes Up Short on the Road Against Yuma

Wray kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yuma Outlaws. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 69-56 to the Outlaws when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Wray's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryson Lewis, who posted five points and nine rebounds. Brodie Riggelman was another key player, shooting 56% from the field en route to 10 points.

Brody Sheffield had a dynamite game For Yuma., almost dropping a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. Sheffield's big performance that evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Rose, who earned eight points and four steals.

Yuma has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Wray wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-34 victory against Merino on the 6th. As for Yuma, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-62 defeat against The Vanguard School on the 6th.
