Softball Recap: Pettus Eagles vs. San Perlita Trojans

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pettus had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 19-14 victory over the San Perlita Trojans. The win was some much needed relief for Pettus as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

For San Perlita's part, Summer Terry and Heaven Gutierrez did some serious damage despite the final result: Terry scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Gutierrez scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. Terry is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Elizabeth Maldonado was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.

Pettus' victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-14. As for San Perlita, they now have a losing record at 1-2.

Pettus will square off against Moulton on Thursday. One thing working in Moulton's favor is that they have posted big run totals in their last five matches. San Perlita does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
