Baseball Game Preview: Marinette Marines vs. Sturgeon Bay Clippers

The Marinette Marines will face off against the Sturgeon Bay Clippers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

After dropping their season opener at home, Sturgeon Bay is headed out to face a Marines team ready to give their home crowd a win. Marinette lost 11-3 to Oshkosh North on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Marines have suffered since May 6, 2024.

Sawyer Walters made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Sturgeon Bay had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out Green Bay Southwest 4-3.

Patrick Haese made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Haese was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Haese wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Plzak, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
