Football Recap: Pomona Skates Past Fort Morgan with Ease + How To Watch

Pomona extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 8-1. They claimed a resounding 65-14 win over the Fort Morgan Mustangs. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Luis Santana had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 212 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Those 212 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tucker Ingersoll, who threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pomona was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 343 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Pomona's defense stepped up as well, laying out Jj Marquez six times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as six different players picked up one apiece.

As for Fort Morgan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Pomona is ranked 24th).

Although Fort Morgan took the loss, they still got scores from Frankie Urias and Izeiah Ortiz.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pomona will take on rival Thompson Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Panthers 11.9, the Eagles 11.3) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Fort Morgan is set to challenge their familiar foe Severance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
