Basketball Recap: Corinth Holders Comes Up Short

Corinth Holders was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They lost to the Garner Trojans on the road by a 82-65 margin. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 506th, while the Trojans are ranked 16th).

Despite the loss, Corinth Holders still got an impressive performance from Jalen Chandler, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 18 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Chandler a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cortes Everett, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Corinth Holders' loss dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Garner, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Garner beat Corinth Holders by a score of 76-47 on Friday.
