Basketball Recap: Wayzata Falls Short Against Ranked Eden Prairie

On Tuesday, Wayzata faced Eden Prairie in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Wayzata Trojans took an 81-73 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eden Prairie Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 56-53 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

It was another big night for Tori Schlagel, who went 9 of 14 en route to 29 points and four steals for Eden Prairie. Ziwilani Simbeye was another key player, going 5 for 9 on her way to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Wayzata's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4. As for Eden Prairie, their win bumped their record up to 13-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayzata will challenge Edina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Wayzata's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Eden Prairie, they will face off against St. Michael-Albertville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
