Basketball Recap: Montgomery County Extends Winning Streak to Three

Montgomery County hadn't done well against Wheeler County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Montgomery County Eagles had just enough and edged the Wheeler County Bulldogs out 62-60. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Bulldogs last Friday, they had to take a 75-60 defeat.

Wheeler County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Wright Jr., who posted 22 points and six rebounds. Wright Jr.'s evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alvin Ricks, who had 12 points along with eight boards and six assists.

The win was the third in a row for Montgomery County, bringing their record for this year to 8-20. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points over those games. As for Wheeler County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Montgomery County has already played their next matchup, a 64-54 loss against Hawkinsville on the 15th. As for Wheeler County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 51-37 victory against Wilcox County on the 15th.
