Football Recap: Chase Southern Key Part of Team Effort in Tide Win

Sherman won the last time they faced Poca and things went their way on Friday too. The Tide enjoyed a cozy 26-8 victory over the Dots. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tide.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sherman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chase Southern, who picked up 66 receiving yards and two TDs. Those two receiving touchdowns gave Southern a new career-high. Trey Lester was another key player, gaining 100 total yards and a touchdown.

Sherman didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Poca to a completion percentage of just 37.5%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Lester and Colby Atkins, who each logged two passes deflected. Sherman has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.61 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.61 in their last three games.

Sherman's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Poca, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Sherman wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 42-20 loss against East Hardy on the 14th. Poca does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
