Baseball Recap: Slinger's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Slinger entered their tilt with Oak Creek on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 6-3.

Tyler Loesche tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Slinger's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb Burkel, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Burkel is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another was Ethan Miller, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Slinger pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Oak Creek, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

Coming up, Slinger will be playing at home against Whitefish Bay at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Owls 3.1, the Blue Dukes 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Oak Creek, they are taking a road trip to challenge Kimberly at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Papermakers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
