Volleyball Recap: Newman Starts Season with Win on the Road

Newman had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran Blazers on Tuesday. The Fighting Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Blazers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-17.

Camille Sobolewski paced Newman's offense, picking up nine kills. Sobolewski got some help from Lexi Rice and her 14 assists. Rice was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Coincidentally, Newman and Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran will both be playing Northland Pines the next time they take the court. The Blazers will head out to face the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, while the Fighting Cardinals will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
