Baseball Recap: Three Straight Road Victories for Gulf Coast

Gulf Coast's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Golden Gate Titans get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The Sharks haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Thomas Eaton and Preston Compton were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Eaton pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Compton didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Eaton a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At the plate, Eaton went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double, while Compton scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Compton is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other pitching news, Nash Tuner looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Michael Peterson was a standout: he scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Borrego, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Gulf Coast's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.67 hits in those games compared to only 4.57 in the others. As for Golden Gate, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gulf Coast will venture away from home to challenge Barron Collier at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Barron Collier knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Gulf Coast likes a good challenge. As for Golden Gate, they will head out to square off against Immokalee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Golden Gate is facing Immokalee at the right time seeing as Immokalee is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
