Basketball Preview: Seguin Matadors vs. Boerne-Champion Chargers

Seguin is 0-10 against the Chargers since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Seguin Matadors will be playing at home against the Boerne-Champion Chargers at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Even though Canyon scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, Seguin still came out on top. Seguin came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars and snuck past 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Seguin has posted since December 30, 2023.

It was another big night for John Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Seguin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Juarz-bruns, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Boerne-Champion entered their tilt with the Rangers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Boerne-Champion came out on top against the Rangers by a score of 51-38 on Friday. Given Boerne-Champion's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Rangers are ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Seguin's victory bumped their record up to 14-15. As for Boerne-Champion, they are on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 21 games, which provided a nice bump to their 27-4 record this season.

Seguin took a serious blow against the Chargers in their previous meeting back in January, falling 68-41. Will Seguin have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
