Softball Game Preview: Lexington Wildcats vs. Wade Hampton Generals

The Lexington Wildcats will challenge the Wade Hampton Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lexington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Wade Hampton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lexington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Catawba Ridge, who was ranked second at the time (Lexington was ranked fourth). The Wildcats walked away with a 9-4 win over the Copperheads on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Wade Hampton had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against Boiling Springs by a score of 6-2 on Monday.

Wade Hampton's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sanaii Rivers, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another was Breleigh Betsill, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Lexington pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Wade Hampton, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.
