The North Penn-Mansfield Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Warrior Run Defenders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
North Penn-Mansfield managed to slip by Athens the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Tigers were outmatched by the Wildcats and fell 54-13. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.
Although North Penn-Mansfield took the loss, they still got scores from Luke Kreger and Colton Pellett.
Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kreger, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Warrior Run beat Lewisburg 29-24 on Friday.
North Penn-Mansfield better keep an eye on Denyn Beachel. He was instrumental in Warrior Run's win, rushing for 114 yards and one score. Beachel's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 114 rushing yards.
Warrior Run was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 218 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 191 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
Warrior Run's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.7 points over those games. As for North Penn-Mansfield, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 4-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. North Penn-Mansfield has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Warrior Run struggles in that department as they've been averaging 171.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
North Penn-Mansfield was taken down by Warrior Run 70-24 when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Tigers, Eli Butler (who rushed for 302 yards and three TDs while picking up 13.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
