Preview: Kimball Knights vs. Sunset Bison

Kimball is 9-1 against Sunset since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Kimball Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Sunset Bison at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Kimball has four straight victories, Sunset has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Even though South Oak Cliff scored an imposing 59 points on Wednesday, Kimball still came out on top. Kimball enjoyed a cozy 73-59 win over South Oak Cliff.

Kimball's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Marri Wickware, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Jaylon Dean-vines, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Dean-vines pulled down eight or more rebounds. Rico Aguilar was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

While Sunset couldn't quite beat Molina on Wednesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 57-point loss they were dealt on Friday. Sunset fell just short of Molina by a score of 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Sunset has suffered yet this season.

Kimball is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. As for Sunset, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Everything came up roses for Kimball against Sunset when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 89-11 win. With Kimball ahead 57-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
