Volleyball Game Preview: Deshler Dragons vs. Silver Lake Mustangs

The Deshler Dragons will be taking part in a tournament against the Silver Lake Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Deshler's tournament run continued when they took on Kenesaw on Saturday. The Dragons fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 2-1. The Dragons haven't had much luck with the Blue Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Silver Lake came up short against Shelton on Saturday and fell 2-0. The shutout was out of character for the Mustangs seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.

Deshler will have to contain Sophie Schmidt as she made an impact in Silver Lake's last game. She had 19 digs and one assist. Schmidt is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 19 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Silver Lake's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Deshler, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-17.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's matchup: Deshler has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Silver Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
