Preview: Ripon Christian Knights vs. Ripon Indians
Ripon Christian and Ripon are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Ripon Christian Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Ripon Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ripon Christian comes in on nine and Ripon on five.
On Wednesday, Ripon Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Riverbank, taking the game 53-42.
Meanwhile, Ripon's game on Friday was all tied up 34-34 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 76-69 victory over Hughson. Given Ripon's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while Hughson is ranked 884th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ripon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Madoski, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Madoski has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Lefebvre, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Ripon Christian's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Ripon, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.
Ripon Christian beat Ripon 72-60 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ripon Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
