Softball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Marion's Winning Streak

After a string of eight wins, Marion's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Centralia Orphans by a score of 3-2. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Orphans earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

Marion's loss dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Centralia, their victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion will host Belleville West at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Maroons have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Centralia, they will be playing at home against Mattoon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
