Baseball Recap: McKinney Takes a Loss

McKinney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 5-1 to the McKinney Boyd Broncos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 on Friday.

McKinney got a good showing from Ethan Estes, who pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Estes a new career-low.

On the hitting side, McKinney saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eldrick Ramos, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

McKinney's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for McKinney Boyd, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McKinney is set to challenge their familiar foe Plano East at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, McKinney Boyd will take on rival Allen at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Broncos 2.6, the Eagles 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
