Soccer Game Preview: Canisius vs. McQuaid Jesuit

Canisius hasn't had much luck against McQuaid Jesuit recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Crusaders will host the Knights at 12:00 p.m. Canisius is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 11 games.

Canisius proved they can win big on Monday (they won by eight) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Canisius' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 12th, while St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute are ranked 100th).

Anthony Franjoine and Henry Smith scored both of Canisius' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 30 goals.

Meanwhile, McQuaid Jesuit managed to keep up with Clarence until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Knights came up short against the Red Devils, falling 4-0. Considering the last time McQuaid Jesuit couldn't score was back in September, the team can't take the result too hard.

McQuaid Jesuit's loss dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for Canisius, their win bumped their record up to 11-1-1.
